I recommend you read the book, better yet buy it, and know the terrible things that is happening in Africa - the amputees, the refugees, the women, the kids, their survival, and how they manage to give a bright smile and welcome their visitors beyond the hardships, pain and trauma from the RUF, the killings, rapes and amputations.
I plan to buy a copy of the book because Jolie donate all her proceeds from the Simon and Schuster book to the refugee agency.
"I've taken on the responsibility of donating at least a third of what I earn to humanitarian aid. If anyone thinks the way I look in photos is more important for me than the fact a sick child has food, they are mad".~ Angelina Jolie

Becoming somewhat aware and concerned of what the African people are experiencing, I came across a site about Sierra Leone. There I found some ‘proverbs’ compiled by a number of persons.
Here are some :

- A child who doesn't listen to its mother will be brought up by the street. (A child who is disobedient at home will eventually have to face the consequences of a poor upbringing.)
- A bad child may not be thrown into the bush. (No matter how bad a child may turn out to be, he can't be disowned by his family.)

- The same rain that beats bitter-leaf until its bitter beats sugar cane until it's sweet.
- God will drive the flies away from a tail-less cow.
- I won't buy a cow only by the sound of its voice.
- Not all the water you take to wash goes on you. (You don't get credit for everything you do.)
- If you put a stick into a hole it can deceive you, but if you put your hand inside it won't lie.
- Shit doesn't have bones, but when you step on it you'll tiptoe.
- If a fly insists on remaining on a dead body, they'll bury both of them together. (If you join bad companions, they will drag you down with them.)

- You can chew for a person, but you can't swallow for him.
- When they start talking about an old woman's boyfriends, she says she hears thunder. (Changing the subject.)
- You can cure madness, but you can't cure a stupidity.
