when you want to get things done, you gotta do it yourself.

~ Sebastian (the Lobster) of the Little Mermaid

the marketing maintenance boys failed me today. they were supposed to bring the new billboard material to AUF. instead, they snuck out of the office and went home which made our manager really, really pissed off. our boss is occasionally a control-freak but most often kind enough to understand some human matters. in this case, dalawa pa talaga silang sabay na umalis nang hindi nagpapaalam ha, well, they have the whole day tomorrow to explain their actions.

unplanned, i'm becoming productive again. Cyprus and I were just supposed to go to the mall area and buy Jollibee ice craze. he decided for us to just eat the dessert there instead of having it to go. i bought the mango caramel flavor, while he took the liberty (and risk) of choosing the ube queso flavor. afterwards, he told me he didn't enjoy the ube queso as much as he enjoyed the mango caramel, especially when he saw me scooping the last few strips of the nata. :p he loves nata.

after being 'crazed', we decided to do our rounds in the mall -- personally, to burn some of the calories we ate. also, i wanted to double-check if the boys replaced the outdated ads AT THE VERY LEAST. as suspected, they didn't remove the independence day ads. anyabay?

i am so lucky to have Cyprus around to help me get people and things moving even in the absence of our maintenance boys. since i didn't know where the boys kept the other father's day tarps, i just asked the proxy maintenance boy to get a generic tarp from our storage.

then, off we went to AUF. i brought the billboard material to AUF myself because i just want it done today - like,it's now or never! -- of course, still with a little(?) help from my friend, Cyprus, and his extended hands, the proxy boys. see, i should give Cyp a token of thanks some time soon because he's assisted me on so many things and have dealt with my crankiness for the past months. and now i'm thinking ang tiyaga n'ya or he probably just doesn't have a choice. kasi nakaalis na si Joyce. hahaha! ...haay, shet.

being outdoors was a happy place considering that our work requires us to be indoors most of our (work)time. there were a few sights along our way i wish i had taken a photo of, but unfortunately, my cam-phone is not that talented. soon, i hope, i'll be able to upgrade my companion to a Sony Ericsson unit with a higher megapixel. =) yes, yes, yes.

i saw a sign that said :

VELYARD TABLE
FOR SALE

which i thought was a kind of table being sold. it made me chuckle after realizing that "billiard" was just misspelled. yet, it dawned on me how unfortunate that was - a person with talent in making billiard tables/sets might have let fortunes or opportunities to advance pass him by because he couldn't sell his stuff or at least, communicate well what he really wants to say.

that simple signage just says so much about the kind or level of education that some Filipinos get. even when we hear of cases wherein foreign families send their children to the Philippines because we have good educational system/programs, plus it's cheaper to study here.

if it's cheaper, then i wonder why many Filipinos still do not have access to this cheap and good educational system..? haay, it's just SAD.

i know many groups and non-government organizations are doing so much to address this challenge, and i would probably get a better view and better shot when i get back to the philanthropic world. even as a civilian.

other picturesque stuff i also saw on the road were:

- kids sharing fishballs and kikiams on stick. what i exactly saw was a kid holding up her stick so her friend can bite a piece from her stack of kikiams. that's what friends are for, right? "sticking up for each other"

- a man in his 20's was trying to heat up his scooter's engine while his hair was dripping wet from conditioner or hot oil cream. "how metrosexual!" these days you cannot judge a man's gender by merely looking at him from a distance. because when you confront them, some would still deny their preference even if they were bleeding homo.

no pun intended. i don't have anything against homo or homo relationships. i have many friends who are homos. what i am trying to say is that, if you are (gay or lesbian), just admit it.

oh, what a good afternoon i had today. for a change. :p
